Typography
What is Typography?
Typography is art form of the texts and written communication that dates back to the beginning of civilizations and maybe even further. Language and typography goes heavily together, but once separated the other often vanishes. This topic is also grand field in science and history that contains clues how to create new typography.
Creating Glyphs
The individual unit in texts is always the glyph that contains the shape for the letter, mark or a word. Some ancient Mayan glyphs could contain a whole sentence or a story even, but in modern terms this starts to shift more into the icon and logo concepts. Latin alphabet offers a wide range to modify the letters in artistic ways without losing the meaning of the glyph and best approach is to sketch out these first in various ways and once the desired style is found, then finding the way to implement the style to the other letters.
Font Files
When the base set of glyphs have been made next that follows is the actual font file creation. There are some font file creation kits that allow to export the glyphs into actual font file packages that can be imported to target softwares.
Title Art
Title art is the artistic way to present a company-, product- or unique event name. Many title arts are often rooted from some already existing font and then creating some modifications to add unique visuals. However even purely handcrafted title art is relatively lighter task than creating an actual font file for the text.
